speed with gearing?
I propose to run a 24 drive/47 rear tooth sprocket (figure about 1:2) through a CV trans that goes from 2:1 to a 1:1 final then through a 1:7 reduction drive. The drive wheel I plan on running is 9.5 inches in diameter. So it looks like a total reduction of about 1:14 (or is it 14:1?) off the crank. with a 29.83" per rear tire revolution, thats about 2" per revolution of the motor/minute. What is redline of a 36/49CC motor with a standard 1/2 inch carb port? Is my 14:1 reduction gonna kill any speed? 8000 RPM = 16000 inches per minute or 1333 feet per minute, or about 14 mph... I could live with that for a 7-12 year old rider. Anything over 8000 capable through a 13mm bore carb? I dont know what cc this motor is, no marking on it. but its sure not a weed whacker motor, the jug is opposite the carb and the trans goes back on the carb side, cog is inboard of the trans about 2" off the carb air cleaner.
