more life out of rear tyre ? Empty more life out of rear tyre ?

i just got a goped sport, it's secondhand and reaching the end of the rear tyres adjustment, i'm an engineer and it looks like if i extend the axle slots in the frame i can get more life out of the tyre, i doubt this hasn't been thought of before, is this a winner, or a fail ?

Just cut your losses and buy a new tyre, lot of work just to save a couple of £.....Rolling Eyes
